Raiser's Edge NXT has introduced a new way of managing consent, which affects how you view records when using our email marketing system (EMS) (SmartMAILCHIMP, SmartDOTDIGITAL etc.).
A new concept of channel consent has been introduced
A channel refers to the overall type of communication (e.g., Email).
A category is a subtype within the channel (e.g. Email > All communications).
When SmartMAILCHIMP records a subscription from your EMS, Raiser's Edge NXT may need to add both a channel and a category consent record.
For example:
If someone opts in via your EMS, we will add an Email > All communications opt-in.
Different: If NXT doesn’t already have an opt-in channel consent for Email, it will automatically create one.
As a result, you may see two consent records in Raiser's Edge NXT:
One for the channel (Email).
One for the category (Email > All communications).
This is expected behaviour due to the way the new Raiser's Edge NXT consent tile works. It is not a bug. You can see an example consent record below int he screenshot.
Unsubscribes are still handled as they always were, as single consents. When someone unsubscribes in Mailchimp, SmartMAILCHIMP records this as an Email opt-out in Raiser's Edge NXT, and all unsubscribe flows continue to function as previously.
