SmartZIP RE Guide
Our Raiser's Edge edition of SmartZIP is a very quick and simple to use tool to provide address and now bank validation for Raiser's Edge.
Installation is a case of following your trial email to download the program or it's windows installer https://uk.smartthing.org/clients/upload/smartzipre-setup.exe, then following the quick start process. Once complete you will have a small PCA icon in your windows tray:
Basic usage
Looking up an address
F6: When you have an address open (Bio 1 tab, Address more dialog or editing a relationship) press F6 to launch SmartZIP. It will search for the address and if only one result is found will paste in the corrected address details. If no address or more than one result is found a dialog will pop up showing you addresses to select from and allowing you to further refine the search.
Shift + F6: If you press this key combination the selection of address dialog will always show even if only one result is found.
Validating bank details (UK only)
Bank details are held in the Config > Financial Institutions area of Raiser's Edge.
F5: When editing a Financial Institution press F5 to look up the bank details based on the sort code you have entered on the record
SHIFT + F5: Sometimes you will want to bulk update bank information based on the sort code. To do this open the first bank record in the Config > Financial Institutions page and then press Shift + F5. After confirming you want to go ahead the system will then iterate through all your bank records and where a valid sort code is entered it will update it. All successfully updated banks will have their comment field updated to 'Valid sort code - SmartZIP'
Bulk review of bank details
We suggest you add columns to your Financial Institutions grid. To do this right click on the grid shown on the Config > Financial Institutions page and select 'Columns' from the menu. Then drag all the fields to the right and click OK.
You can then see the status of any bulk updates in the Comments column - 'Valid sort code - SmartZIP' shows you it is valid, blank or any other value means you need to look at this record and perhaps use F5 to have SmartZIP report the issue with that particular record.
For easier review you can also export this grid to Excel by right clicking and selecting 'Export Banks Grid to Excel'.
