SmartZIP RENXT/BBCRM/eTapestry: Set up instructions

This guide takes you through the installation of SmartZIP (Chrome edition) for Raiser's Edge NXT, eTapestry and Blackbaud CRM.
Note: If you have just installed the Chrome extension skip to step 2.

Step 1 - Install SmartZIP

  1. Using Google Chrome please visit the Chrome web store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/smartzip-crm/kcljmnbnfdbjhpmhepkcgcdhhfidkgbn
  • Click ‘Add to Chrome’. This will install SmartZIP in your Chrome browser so you can use it with your Blackbaud product.

Step 2 - Set up the Address Cleaning service

You can choice a provider for your Address Cleaning service in SmartZIP. Loqate offer a free trial and Google offer a free monthly allowance (which covers most users)

Loqate

Please follow this step by step guide to create a Loqate API key (note: you do not need to 'Secure the key' in those instructions as this is not the web version of the software). Keep a note of your key as you will need it later.

Google

Please follow this guide to create your Google Places API key. Keep a note of the key as you will need it later.

Step 3 - SmartZIP Options

If you just installed SmartZIP you should find the options already open in a tab in your browser. If not please visit chrome://extensions and find the SmartZIP extension, click on the 'Options' link.

The above will result in SmartZIP's options being shown (as below):

  • You need to input your SmartZIP license username and key (these have been emailed to you by SmartTHING).
  • Click 'Address cleaning settings' and enter your Address Cleaning API key (If you don't have a key, see Step 2 above).
  • Click Save, to validate your licence details and to start using SmartZIP!
Once configured you'll notice SmartZIP when adding or editing addresses in your Blackbaud product  i.e. in Blackbaud CRM (see the new Address finder: field below Country):
