SmartZIP: Creating a Loqate Account

Some of our products, powered by Loqate, require the user to have a Loqate account in order to use them (SmartZIP and SmartBANKVALIDATION).

Once this is complete you will need to generate a service key for our products as below.

Create an API key

  • Set up Capture+ Address by:
  • Clicking 'New Service' in the menu
  • Click 'API Key'
  • Note your Key - you will need this in SmartZIP and/or SmartBANKVALIDATION, it will be in the format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have agreed

Any unsigned agreements can be found in the Loqate account dashboard. Next to the menu you will see a numbered indicator of any waiting alerts. If this is unsigned agreements then clicking this will take you directly to the agreements page: https://account.loqate.com/Account/#/Agreements

You will know you have not done this if you see any errors saying 'Agreement not signed'. The key agreements here are the 'Bank Account Validation' and 'Address Verification' although you should agree to all if you want to use any of the other Loqate services.

Secure your key (WEB SITE VERSIONS ONLY)

When using one of our web based versions of SmartZIP i.e. for Online Express, Internet Solutions or NetCommunity based websites you will want to secure your key so it can only be used on YOUR website. To do this follow the below guide.
  • Click 'All Services' within the menu, and select your key (the service) you wish to secure
  • Go to the 'Limits' tab
  • Enter your website URLs under the 'Limit by URLs' field:
    • Remember to enter your website URLs with https:// and http:// at the front of them e.g. https://www.smartthing.org/ and http://www.smartthing.org/. This should be the URL for your site home page which will then allow the key to work on any page within your website.

Notes on Loqate:

  • If looking at pricing information on their site, refer to the 'Address verification' pricing line for SmartZIP or the 'Bank Validation' line for our Bank Validation product.
  • Loqate provide some some free credit to try the service out so when you have set up your account you will have a few look ups to try out before needing to pay for anything.
