How to use SmartINSTALLER to install NetCommunity custom parts

What is SmartINSTALLER?

SmartINSTALLER is a Chrome extension that allows you to easily install & update SmartTHING’s custom NetCommunity and Internet Solutions parts.

How do I install it?
  • Using Google Chrome please visit the Chrome web store page for SmartINSTALLER
  • Click ‘Add to Chrome’

What then?

You can now easily add new SmartTHING NetCommunity custom parts to your NetCommunity website using the instructions below.

SmartINSTALLER: Adding a custom part
  • Log into NetCommunity or Internet Solutions using an administrator account
  • Go to Administration > Custom parts (if you can't see this option try a higher level account)

  • Click on the “New SmartTHING part” button
  • Enter product name and license details (username and license key) provided in your trial, or sales email into the dialog that appears
  • Click the save button, and the product will install and show in the list of custom parts
 

SmartINSTALLER: Updating a custom part

Case 1: When the part was installed using SmartINSTALLER
  • You will receive an update prompt when you click on “edit part”, select yes or no as needed.

Case 2: When the part was not installed using SmartINSTALLER
  • Click on the Edit button (signified by a pencil)
  • Click on the “Update this part” button
  • Add the product license details and click OK
  • The part will update.
