SmartTRACK OLX Results, problems and checking it is working
Is it working?
View the log
This step is advised although optional or if you have issues with your tracking not working we suggest you do this.
Open your web page in Chrome Web Browser (you can also do this in Chrome or IE but our instructions here are for Chrome)
Press F12 to open the developer console. Alternatively right click on the page and select Inspect element to again open the developer console.
Switch to the Console tab and you should see the log:
If you go through a donation you should also see additional log items to show that the donation is being tracked. If this does not seem right please send the log (copy and paste it) into an email to
our support desk along with the web address of your page.
Inspect using Google Tag Assistant
You can install the free Chrome Web Browser Extension
Tag Assistant (by Google). This will show you the tags being triggered on your page. Going through a donation should show all the fired events so you can verify that it is working as you expect.
Check my Custom Tracker is working
If you have defined your own custom tracker to integrate with another tracking system then you can check it is working using the Chrome console (which you access as above).
On page load you will see:
- Detected Custom tracker code
and when a donation/event/membership purchase completes you will see:
- Custom tracker called
PLUS details of the event fired
You can also do a quick check yourself to see if the tracker is defined on this page by entering 'customTracker' into the console. If it is defined a function should be shown otherwise the error is shown 'customTracker is not defined'.
Viewing the results
Now the tracker is enabled where can you see the tracking information?
Google Analytics
You can do a lot more than described here but just for a basic overview please follow the below steps. Note that there is a delay of a few hours before stats show up in the Google Anayltics console.
- Make sure you select the correct view for your site's analytics account from the drop-down (top left)
- Go to Conversions > E-commerce > Overview, you should see something like:
Google (and other trackers) tracking have the option of exposing additional information so you can determine which pages and forms caused your donations. We track the following fields:
Page URL and Name (a standard tracking parameter - all tracking systems report this automatically)
Name: 'Donation'
Category: 'OLX: ' + the page title i.e. 'OLX Donate'
Affiliation: (same as Category)
- SKU: The bbox-part-id (online express form unique id)
Using these fields you should be able to separate out your stats to analyse your donation form performance.
