SmartSYNC: Raiser's Edge 7 connector requirements

If you have Raiser's Edge 7 (RE) self hosted and Blackbaud's REAPI addon then we can connect SmartSYNC for you. You will have a lot but not all the functionality of the product as we have reengineered a subset of the Blackbaud SKY API for RE7. The below outlines the server requirements should you wish to go ahead.

Suggested configuration

Server 1 = RE Client

Normal Raiser's Edge 7 Client installed and our SmartSYNC RE 7 Connector (this is a web server app that uses REAPI to mimic the RENXT SKYAPI)

Server 2 = Optional

SmartSYNC installed - that can be your own Docker based server.
Alternatively you can instead use our hosted SmartSYNC service and not have a Server 2.

DMZ

Servers can sit within your intranet as long as Server 2 can reach out via HTTPS (port 443).
If we are hosting SmartSYNC then Server 1 will need to have HTTPS (port 443) access to the internet.

SmartTHING Support and API Testing

We provide a support package to get you up and running if you choose to host your own servers as part of a SmartSYNC sale. As part of that process we will test the installation and ensure it is working correctly.

Implementation notes

  1. Docker on virtual servers is a bit tricky and is usually best installed on a physical server. Having said that some clients have managed it (Linux host for Docker install is best).
  2. Please ensure the RE7 Client on Server 1 works prior to any installation days involving SmartTHING. Just start RE7 and ensure you can access and update records.
  3. User accounts: The RE7 user used for the above setup does not need to be a sys admin account, just one with access to add, update and view the constituent records.
