SmartSYNC: Correcting data and rerunning a data flow

Occasionally SmartSYNC will report flow errors. Usually the issue will be something to do with the data that has passed through the flow such as an Invalid address (misspelt country, or other details), invalid phone number format, invalid email address etc. In these cases you are able to edit the data and rerun the flow.

Step 1. Review the log

If you click through to the website from a SmartSYNC 'Failed flow' email notification, just log in to view the failed logs. Alternatively, log in to SmartSYNC, visit the Logs tab and click the 'Failed' button. In either case you will see something like the below. From this we can see that the address data contained an invalid state 'Oshawa' so the update failed. The red error message will usually summarise the issue for you. In this case we know we could edit the address to correct the issue:

Click the 'View details' button to see information about the data processed. In this case you would see the below. This shows in the right column the data that has been processed (outlined in green in our screenshot.

Step 2. Edit and rerun the flow

Just above the first output log you can see the link 'allow edits'.

If you click the link it changes to 'changes' and you are now able to edit the data in the output:

In the above we are editing the state to correct it. Once we have completed the edits we click 'Save changes' button:

We can now rerun the flow using the edited data:

The flow log will change to show 'Status: Retry' in yellow...

Step 3 Review the logs

Usually within 5 minutes SmartSYNC will try the flow again. If you go to the Logs page you will see a count of the steps in the 'Retry status', if this reads zero then the flow has run again and will usually be top of the list. If you see Retry (1) just click the 'Refresh' button to reload the page after waiting a few minutes. Once run you should see:

If it failed you will again get a notification and the logs will show a failed log. However, and hopefully this will be the case due to our edits, the flow should now show a 'Status: Success'.
