SmartSOCIAL: FAQs

Some frequently asked questions and answers about our SmartSOCIAL product.

Q. If we install SmartSOCIAL is it then available to all our users
A. SmartSOCIAL installs on individual PCs so would only be available on the machines on which you install it (just like SmartOUTLOOK and SmartPASTE)

Q. Can a user opt to 'close' it so it does not sit next to their RE, RENXT or Blackbaud CRM records?
A. Users can close it and then later Enable it again - it has a prompt next to the icon to say 'Enable me' again if it was previously closed

Q. What happens if we choose to uninstall?
A. If you uninstall it then it won't appear again on that computer

Q. If one user has a linked in account and links a record, will someone without a linked in account be able to see the linked in record?
A. If a user links a record to a LinkedIn profile then everyone using the same SmartSOCIAL DB will be shown that profile BUT within their LinkedIn account rights. So if they can't see the profile due to not being linked to the person in LinkedIn for instance, then they won't see the profile.

Q. Will SmartSOCIAL work with my version of RE?
A. SmartSOCIAL works with hosted or self-hosted RE and both the Database and Web view versions of RE NXT

Q. Where is SmartSOCIAL installed - do I need to talk to Blackbaud if I am hosted?
A. SmartSOCIAL is installed on your local computer even if you use Blackbaud hosted Raisers' Edge or RE NXT. You therefore do not need to talk to Blackbaud to get it up and running. Indeed SmartSOCIAL NXT and CRM install in your Chrome browser and SmartSOCIAL RE can be run from your desktop so you don't even need to involve your local IT teams usually.

Q. Will SmartSOCIAL work with my version of Blackbaud CRM?
A. SmartSOCIAL works with hosted or self-hosted Blackbaud CRM

Q. Will it work on a Mac?
A. Yes if you use the RE NXT Web view and Chrome web browser

Q. Will it always be free for Blackbaud products?
A. As much as you can say always with certainty, we intend to keep SmartSOCIAL free.

Q. Is the Zoho CRM version free?
A. Due to the additional support requirements for Zoho CRM we have not been able to make this free at this time.

Q. Will GDPR impact on SmartSOCIAL's functionality?
A. No. SmartSOCIAL in itself does not copy data or store data. Your data stays in Raiser's Edge NXT or in LinkedIn, and your data is subject to those systems for compliance.
