SmartSOCIAL/GMAIL/OUTLOOK installation process and technical background
Installation
All our Raiser's edge based tools are based on the same core technology. It allows us to provide two versions of the products:
A simple executable which you can download to your desktop and run
A full windows installer (like any other Windows program) that installs the program to your computer but requires rights to install software so may involve your IT teams
The Technology
The software is based on
AutoIt which is a windows scripting and automation tool. This allows us to mimic a user using the computer and also to interface to COM objects such as those provided by Outlook to read information from email clients for SmartOUTLOOK.
Due to this tech sometimes our applications are marked as possibly virus related although these incidents are dropping as more and more use the products. In these cases your IT team would need to 'whitelist' the application or follow the steps
here to unblock it.
