SmartNXTTOOLS: SmartMERGE for NXT - get rid of those duplicate records
Welcome to your guide for using SmartMERGE, a tool designed to streamline your record-merging process. This guide covers how to merge both small and large numbers of records efficiently.
Merging a few records
Merging a small number of records (under 100) is a quick process. Here's what you need to do:
- Install the extension: Add the SmartNXTTOOLS Chrome extension to your web browser. This also works in Edge and Opera, but you may need to get approval from your IT team if it does not install on your first attempt.
- Activate your license: After installing, go to your RENXT home page. You'll see a prompt to create a free license. Click OK to get started.
- Find the toolbar: Navigate to your Constituents > Duplicate management page in NXT. The new SmartMERGE toolbar will appear, and you're ready to start merging.

Merging a Large Number of Records
When merging a large number of records, it's crucial to keep your computer from going to sleep. To do this, we recommend using a tool like the Stay Awake Chrome extension. You should only enable this extension when you're actively merging. It will prevent your computer from locking and can keep your screen on.
For security, we would suggest that you turn off your monitor and place your computer in a secure, monitored location while the merge is in progress.
