SmartJUSTGIVING: Connecting JustGiving

SmartJUSTGIVING: Connecting JustGiving

To allow SmartJUSTGIVING to retrieve data from JustGiving you need to follow the below steps.

Help is at hand: If you have any issues with the below steps email developer@justgiving.com and they will be happy to help

Get an App ID (also known as an API Key)

  1. Register for a developer account
  2. Within your developer account you will find your Application ID, note this as you will need it later
  3. Whilst here, you need to switch the plan associated with this Application ID so it is able to use the Data API.
    1. Click 'Review/Change' on the 'Plan' line and select the Data API option from 'Other plans'. Then scroll down and click 'Request plan change':
If you have any problems with this process you can ask JustGiving developer support to upgrade your app Id to the 'Data API Plan'.

Checking your JustGiving account

  1. Please ensure your organisation is on a JustGiving Grow or Pro plan (not a Start plan), this will enable the required data reports
  2. You can invite the developer@smartthing.co.uk as an admin user to your JustGiving account
  3. OR, you can provide details for an existing JustGiving account you own:
    1. Ensure your JustGiving login (to https://justgiving.com) is an 'admin' account (ask your JustGiving admin to set your account to this role if it is not currently)
    2. If you use SSO to login to JustGiving (such as Blackbaud ID), you will need to set a password for your JustGiving account. Further information on this process is available here. NOTE: When setting a password please only use '.' as a special character, this is a known issue that JustGiving are working on.

Configure SmartJUSTGIVING

You can now connect the application in SmartSYNC, for this you will need to provide the below details to the SmartTHING team:
  1. Your JustGiving Charity ID: You can find this in your JustGiving account settings under 'Edit Charity details' > 'Charity ID'.

  2. Your Application ID (API Key): You will have noted this earlier but can access it at here
  3. JustGiving username and password:
    1. If you invited the developer@smartthing.co.uk account above no further info is required
    2. otherwise, please include the username and password of your JustGiving account
Send the above info to the SmartTHING team securely via send.smartthing.org, they will configure the application for you.
