Select a specific RE NXT Database for a SmartTHING Application

This is only applicable for users that have access to multiple databases in Raiser's Edge (RE) NXT and would like to use their SmartTHING Application across their multiple databases. 

To check if you have access to multiple NXT databases, please check the top left of you RE NXT window when you are already logged in. Next to the Raiser's Edge NXT logo you will see a dropdown menu where you can select the RE instance. In my case 'Blackbaud (Partners)' and if I click the dropdown I can see other options.



If you do not see this menu or you only have one item in the menu then you can ignore this FAQ as you will always auth with your one database.

Ensure the SmartTHING application is enabled

If you have multiple databases, as determined above, then you need to make sure you have enabled the SmartTHING application in your desired database(s). Usually this is something only your NXT administrator can do so please send them to our FAQ or Blackbaud Support can help with this process. 

Finally AUTH with the RIGHT database

In the SmartTHING application you authorise access to your RE NXT database.

When doing so, if you have allowed the SmartTHING application in multiple databases, you have the option to change the database. Do so before authorising the application so the connection is to the correct database.

If you later want to change database you can just reauthorise the application and select the other database.
