Quick start: SmartGMAILNXT Pro

SmartGMAILNXT Pro provides a sidebar in GMAIL for matched records from your NXT database. You should request PRO access from our support team should you wish to enable this BETA functionality. The below guide takes you through enabling the sidebar.

Initial setup

  • Request PRO access for your SmartGMAILNXT license (support@smartthing.org). The sidebar (PRO) features are a free add-on and not enabled by default. We do not enable it by default as there are a few steps to enable the sidebar and we wish to get customers up and running on the basic service as quickly as possible.
  • Add the SmartGMAILNXT application to your Raiser's Edge NXT instance:
  • Reload the Gmail page
  • In Gmail click the large 'b' icon at the top to open your settings. You should now see a PRO settings section.
  • Use the button to authorize access to RENXT via the Blackbaud SKY API - a window pops up so you just need to follow through the auth process
  • Once complete you will see a dialog confirming this in GMAIL and the page will reload

What will I see?

You will, when viewing an email see in the GMAIL, see a new sidebar entry saying 'Looking for .... ' which is GMAIL NXT searching for a matching record. If there is a match found in NXT based upon the email address of the email message being displayed the information from NXT is shown in the sidebar as below:

I can't see the sidebar

The most common solutions are:
  • If you can't see the sidebar please ensure you have completed the setup process or repeat those steps to ensure you have.
  • Some add-ons and extensions for GMAIL can sometimes behave 'badly' towards other GMAIL extensions - we suggest you disable any such extensions to GMAIL and then re-enable them one by one to see which is causing the issue.
