SmartIMPORT Frequently Ask Questions

SmartIMPORT Frequently Ask Questions

What is a standard import?
A standard import is commonly used data fields being moved from your CSV file and imported into your CRM with the data being mapped to fields in your CRM. A non-standard import requires advanced data manipulation or conditional data flows. If you have a non-standard import our team can work with you to build the integration, there may be additional costs depending on how complex that work is.

How much is SmartIMPORT?
This depends on whether you have 'standard' or 'non-standard' imports and therefore who is building the data flows (SmartTHING or yourselves). However, the majority fit with our standard pricing which can be found on our website https://www.smartthing.org/applications/smartimport/. If your imports go outside our standard 'up to 3 hours' consultancy support then there will be an additional charge.

Can I confirm pricing up from?
Please provide sample CSV files for the imports and any business requirements for the import process so we can review your requirements and confirm pricing.

Can SmartIMPORT work the other way around? eg, Upload an end of day report from your CRM into Microsoft Business Central?
SmartIMPORT isn't built to do that, however it is on the SmartSYNC platform which does have the ability to send data and reports. Talk to our team to find out more.

How does duplicate detection work using SmartIMPORT?
SmartIMPORT can use identifiers for records (Constituent IDs, Aliases etc.) or over 25 combined data searches to identify the correct record (i.e. first, last, date of birth and class of). The system is very flexible and has proven to work well for clients worldwide.

We have multiple external data sources, can we run this all at once using SmartIMPORT? Or does it have to be one by one?
You can have multiple imports within SmartIMPORT. If you have multiple data sources though please do get in touch with details. It may be that we already have a direct connector which could remove the processes of having to import manually.

Do you offer any training or data mapping assistance?
We will use your first import as a training exercise in SmartIMPORT to show you how the import is configured and the tools available to help you. After the initial training we are also on hand via our normal support desk to help with future imports. We also monitor the service so will be made aware of any issues and often proactively contact clients to see if we can help with the process.

How do we contact you if there is an issue that requires trouble shooting?
Once your installation is complete we will provide you with a handover training video via our Freedcamp project management system. You are more than welcome to ask any questions though Freedcamp. You are also able to email our support desk on support@smartthing.org or get in touch via the "contact us" page on our website.

What are the Hosting options?
You can be self hosted or hosted with us. If you have a lot of data being pushed through the system you may need a higher usage server or a dedicated server. Please let the team know the usual number of records you would update in any import. We can then confirm, in advance, whether you will need a high usage server to optimise your data import speeds.

Where are your servers located?
We have regional servers based in the USA, Australia and the United Kingdom. You can also have your own server if your IT teams require this, please talk to your SmartTHING support team for further information.
