Internet connection not active Error
This FAQ covers the situation where when using any of our windows executable programs (i.e. SmartPASTE, SmartGMAIL, SmartOUTLOOK etc.) you observe the following error message:
This error is shown when the product cannot access our SmartTHING servers when trying to validate your license.
Solution
- Ensure the executable is not blocked from accessing the internet: Right click on the smartthing executable and select Properties. If there is an 'Unblock' button, click it to enable internet access.
- Install the program using our windows installers - these place the program in c:\program files (x86)\SmartTHING\ folder which solves a lot of issues with virus checkers blocking internet access.
- If you are connected and the error is still there:
- Check you can access, in your web browser all the below links:
- If any of them fail, report it to your IT team and instruct them to allow access on ports 80 and 443 to the smartthing.co.uk and smartthing.org domains
If you are still receiving the error message then please submit a request in our helpdesk or via email at
support@smartthing.org
