How to send emails from Raiser’s Edge via Outlook, Outlook 365 or OWA

Raiser's Edge (RE) Database view (through Citrix)

When you start RE via Citrix (by going to Blackbaud's website and logging in to launch the Database View of RE) there are no direct email integration options for sending emails. Clicking on an email address would launch Outlook within Citrix rather than launching your local Outlook program.

There is a workaround though. In RE click on the email type, press Tab and then CTRL+c to copy the email address. Then paste this into your local Outlook when creating your email. Once sent, if you want to record the email on the persons record go to the Sent Items folder and record it from there using the normal SmartOUTLOOK process (middle mouse button etc.)

When you click on an email in Windows it launches whichever program you have set up to handle emails. Often this is not the Web version of Outlook but a desktop version.
